Expectation Vs. Reality: Summer Holidays!

Expectations Vs. Reality: Summer Holidays!

 Sup y'all!
Well, with summer drawing to a close I have plenty of time to reflect upon my summer. I can reflect on how I spent it and what I did. However, after doing this I realized that my summer was no where near what I thought it was going to be. Yes my expectations were high. I had hoped for the best summer ever; good weather, lots to do etc. The reality was the complete opposite. I am not going to even lie to you, after some serious reflecting I realised my summer consisted of binge watching on Netflix, stalking 5 Seconds of Summer and a billion games of golf - not my ideal summer! With that in mind I decided to share with you my awesome summer expectations vs. my utterly disappointing summer reality:

Expectation: Getting to lie in for as long as you want.
Reality: Being woken up early to walk the dog.

Expectation: Doing something exciting everyday and creating summer memories
Reality: Spending day after day binge watching on Netflix.

Expectation: Seeing your friends nearly everyday.
Reality: Disappearing off the face of the earth and therefore seeing no one till you have to go back to school.

Expectation: Sunshine all day everyday.
Reality: Rain all day everyday, with sunshine on the day you go back to school. (Okay lets face it I never had any expectations for sunshine, after all I live in the U.K! Sunshine all day everyday is a far off magical dream over here.)

Expectation: Having a summer romance.
Reality: Mentally dating your celebrity/YouTube crush.

Expectation: Beach every weekend.
Reality: Doesn't want to leave the Wi-Fi so scrolls through Tumblr for hours instead.

Expectation: Getting a gorgeous tan.
Reality: Is too busy stalking your favourite celeb. to leave the house and therefore remains the pale-skinned vampire you are.

Expectation: Wears stunning new summer clothes they got when going out shopping with your friends.
Reality: Refusing to take off your favourite pair of sweats all summer.

Well, after all that I can gladly say, "Summer well spent!" Just kidding, that was possibly the most unproductive summer in the history of unproductive summers. The only plus side to this summer was starting this blog, which I have loved every minute of. :)

Do you agree with any of these? If so let me know down in the comments! Also if you have any more "Expectation Vs. Reality" ideas then feel free to let me know. :)

Till next time friends! :)

A Blogging Schedule Announcement!

A Blogging Schedule Announcement!

Hey y'all!
I just wanted to let you know that because I am going back to school very soon that it will put limits on the amount of times I will be able to post in a week. Therefore I have decided to only post on Tuesdays and Saturdays. I am sorry about this, but with school up and coming I don't want to end up with posts that are more quantity over quality. I think it's best if I post less quantity and more quality so that is how I will be solving that. However, this may change depending on what my school timetable looks like. If for example I end up with two periods of maths on Tuesday then I might change it to Wednesday, because I always get tonnes of maths homework. Anyway, I'll let you know if any changes are made, but till then I will be posting every Tuesday and Saturday. :)

The Fun Questions Tag!

The Fun Questions Tag!

Hiya!
How are you? Today I am going to be attempting to do the Fun Questions Tag. Feel free to answer these questions in the comments if you like! :)

1. When is your birthday? (You don't have to include the year if you don't want to.)
24th May

 2. What are 3 of your favourite colours?
Green, blue and pink

3. What are your 3 favourites quotes?
Wait, only three? I have so many favourite quotes therefore this took me a ridiculously long period of time to narrow it down to three. These aren't my absolute favourites, I have lots, but theses are the three that made the cut:

  1. People cry not because they are weak, but because they have been strong for too long. - Johnny Depp

  2. Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, then it's not the end. -Unknown

  3. Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it's stupid. -Albert Einstein
 4. Are you addicted to YouTube?
Eh no... *closes the YouTube tab that just so happened to be open...*

 5. What are 3 of your favourite shows on TV or YouTube or both

  1. Once Upon A Time

  2. Pretty Little Liars

  3. Doctor Who
6. What are 3 qualities you like in a best friend?
Loyal, caring and funny.

7. Do you like your name?
Not really.

8. If you have the choice to pick your own name, what will it be?
I love the name Amelia, but I am not sure if it would suit me...?

9. What is your fantasy dream?
To meet 5 Seconds of Summer! (don't judge!)

10. Do you wear makeup?
A bit.

11. If you could write a book, what would the title be and what would it be about?
It would be called, "One Hundred Book Titles and What They Could Be About". This book would help give me inspiration to answer this question.

12. What makes you cry?
Books, movies and anything sad basically. (Wow I need to man up!)

13. What makes you angry?
People hating on others.

14. What makes you happy?
Watching my favourite YouTubers..., hanging out with my friends, listening to music.

15. What is "Fangirling?
Well according to the Oxford dictionary:

Definition of fangirl in English:

noun

A female fan, especially one who is obsessive about comics, film, music, or science fiction: your average fangirl, despite the implication of the name, is a grown-up
More example sentences:
  • You're not one of those obsessive fangirls, are you?
  • As much of an obsessive fangirl as she can be, she's incredibly down to earth, calm in every situation and able to see hope in just about every cause.
  • Of course I might have been just a tad partial considering that they employed one of my best friends and I could be a total fangirl over some of the books Big C wrote.

verb

(Of a female fan) behave in an obsessive or overexcited way: I’m still fangirling over this casting

16. What are your 3 favourites snacks?

cookies, strawberries and crumpets. ( I know crumpets are the most stereotypical British food ever, but they taste so good!)

17. What are your 3 favourite foods?
Crispy aromatic duck pancakes, curry and potatoes.

18. What are your 3 favourite drinks?

Chocolate milk, tea (the most stereotypical British drink, sorry  but I love tea!) and water.

 19. Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I have shortened my name (because I don't really like it) to use as my blog name. I think you all probably guessed that El was shortened from something else, but just in case you didn't know. I am a obsessive Potterhead and I love to read! I love to listen to music, in particular 5 Seconds of Summer and Taylor Swift. That's all I can think of...

20. What are 10 random facts about you?
  1. I am a Potterhead.
  2. I want to travel the world some day.
  3. My favourite colour is green.
  4. I always choose books over movies.
  5. I have an obsession with scented candles.
  6. I literally have to write everything  in blue biro pen. (this is extremely weird.)
  7. I love the word "walrus".
  8. My lucky number is 12.
  9. One of my favourite modern day actors is Johnny Depp. (I love old films and actors like Gregory Peck that's why I said modern day.)
  10. One of my biggest fears is drowning,

 21. What are your 3 fun things to do?
  1. Listen to music.
  2. Chill with my friends.
  3. Watch movies.

I was in the mood to do a tag so I thought I should give this a go. I hope you enjoyed it and you learnt a bit more about me. Feel free to do this tag if you want to and let me know in the comments if you do it or have done it so I can check it out. :)

Till next time!

How To Survive That First Day Back To School - Back To School Blues!

Back to School Blues!

Hello everyone!

I have recently found myself constantly thinking about September, in particular, September 1st! Yes, that's the day I go back to school. It is drawing nearer and I have now found myself staring at my calendar thinking, "But I am almost certain it was July last week." Well, it wasn't and in fact September 1st is this time next week. I dread school as much as the next person. This is because those days of lying in till half ten are over for the first five days of the week. Except for Saturday and Sunday I will have to get up everyday at quarter past seven, and because I am not a morning person this is pure torture. Of course I also deeply hate the idea of spending 6 hours or so in the sitting around in a classroom and instead of listening to music I have to listen to ranting teachers. I would rather spend those valuable 6 hours on the comfort of my couch at home, in my pyjamas, watching Netflix.

However, despite my reluctance I will just have to deal with it like everyone else. From experience the first day is always the worst. After the first day you can sort of get into a routine and it gets easier. That first day though is always the killer, so if you can survive that then you're already doing great!

These are my tips on how to survive that ghastly first day back:

  • Go to sleep early. This one is essential and will be a determining factor for being able to get up when your alarm rings that dreaded morning. There is no use staying up till midnight the night before and then having to drag yourself out of bed the next morning because you're so tired. You will then spend the rest of the day dragging yourself from A to B like the sleep deprived zombie you are.
  • Have a good breakfast. A good breakfast will make you happier. By eating healthy breakfast foods like muesli, porridge or toast you will have better attention span for the day, this can help make lessons a bit easier to sit through.
  • Dress appropriately. Although in my school it is compulsory to wear your school uniform, you school may not require you to wear a uniform. If this is the case then I recommend that you wear something comfortable for your first day.
  • Don't be late. Seriously if you turn up late halfway through the year it is absolutely fine. However, turning up late on your first day back is never a good thing. Usually when I'm running late it stresses me out and puts me in a bad mood for the rest of the day. If that happens to you too then avoid being late, the last thing you need is something to worsen you already bad mood.
  • Stay positive. This may sound impossible but if you can remain positive this may rub off on your class mates and put them in good form.
  • Pack a nice lunch. I recommend packing yourself one of your favourite unhealthy snacks for the first day back - comfort food will be there for you on this dreadful day.
  • Be organised. Pack everything the night before so that you don't have to worry about it the next morning and so nothing is forgotten.
There are a lot of ways to make your first day easier, but these are just a few that came off the top of my head. I hoped this helped some of you. To those of you who are actually excited to go back to school then this article probably made you think that those of us who aren't are incredibly weird , especially after seeing that we dread it so much that we set up a survival list on how to get through the day.

Hope you all have an awesome first day, if that's even possible. Also let me know in the comments how your first day back and tell me if it was as bad as you thought it was going to be. If you are not back at school yet then let me know if you are excited to go back or are you just dreading it.

Good luck and may the odds be ever in your favour!
